Well, you can tell it’s an election year.
There is a deadly virus going around the world right now. It has affected multiple countries and is spreading. People in the United States are very concerned and want reassurance from their leaders that everything is being done to combat this sickness.
When I put on the TV today, I did some channel surfing to get informed about what’s going on from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC. What I wound up hearing makes me realize why I stopped watching TV and cable news. Among the following things I heard included –
- The administration is incompetent
- The leadership team trying to fight the disease are all white
- Everything is in disarray
- This is hurting the administration
- It’s the Trumpvirus
- Had his head in the sand
- It’s much worse than you have been told
- They downplayed and misled the public
- Full investigation
I FREAKING HATE POLITICS
No wonder nothing gets done on the issues I write about on this blog like mental illness, homelessness, children’s issues and just flat out helping people. I survived about an hour of this crap and tuned it off and went to the CDC website to get my information.
I found what I wanted to know. Where the virus has been detected, what has and is planning to be done to fight off the virus, symptoms to check for and of course how to protect yourself from the damn thing. Took me a whole 15 minutes and was pretty straightforward with no apparent slant or world ending mantra. It even explained the proper way to wash my hands and how often.
This is not the first disaster that has divided the nation. President Bush got dumped on during Hurricane Katrina and President Obama took flack for some of the ways he handled the Ebola virus.
The thing about a virus is it doesn’t give a damn about your gender, race, religion, class and especially political party. It just infects and spreads. The same goes for mental illness and other everyday diseases we ignore and let spread and now take over the streets of our communities.
I remember September 11, 2001. People just ran into those buildings to get survivors out of the rubble. They didn’t stop to ask about who they were or how they voted in the last election. People saw Americans and went through the soot and smoke to get people away from the carnage.
Now it is all about the us against them garbage.
What a shame when people just want to be informed and feel like things are being done to keep them safe.
This is a short blog I know but I just needed to vent to all of our leaders and media and say CUT IT OUT.
Once more this is the link to the CDC website, Use it and skip the noise.
